Client: Cork County Council

Cost: Approximately €14,000,000

Completion date: 2010

Description: The project incorporates the provision of foul sewers, storm sewers, rising mains, pressure mains, water mains, pumping stations, grit chambers and outfall structures in the town of Kinsale. The construction of the sewer networks and pumping stations is being carried out as a conventional contract, and the wastewater treatment plant as a Design/Build/Operate (DBO) contract.

The project has now entered the construction phase. Parts of the proposed scheme have already been implemented, most particularly in the Commoge area, as part of the housing and road development. In addition the construction of the foul and storm networks in the Glen, Pearse Street and a section of Emmet Place have been completed as an ‘Advanced Stage’ to the Scheme. A separate contract, Phase 3 of the Scheme will be carried out for the Scilly/Summercove Area and this is due to commence in Summer 2008.
